Which cuts of meat are best for grilling?

Different cuts of meat are great for grilling, depending on taste and cooking method. Some popular cuts of meat for grilling are:

  • fried rib eye: This part comes from the section of the cow's ribs and is known for its rich flavor and marbling. Ribeye is my main preference as it's superbly fatty (about 25% fat and I used it in this recipe too).
  • sirloin: This cut comes from the loin of the cow and is known for its tenderness and mild taste. It has about 8% fat.
  • Top Roastbeef: This cut comes from the fillet part of the cow and is known for its lean meat (fat content around 10%) and its intense flavor.
  • roast loin: This part comes from the shoulder area of the cow and is known for its rich meat flavor and tender texture when cooked low and slow. The fat content is around 21%.
  • round roast: This cut comes from the hind leg of the cow and is known for its lean meat (fat content approx. 8%) and its mild taste.

When choosing a cut of meat for roasting, it's important to consider your desired cooking method, degree of tenderness, and personal preference for flavor and fat content.

You can use any of these cuts for this recipe, but I recommend using fatty cuts to make your roast as flavorful and satisfying as possible. Last but not least, try to get grass-fed beef for the best benefits and flavor.

How I came up with this easy beef recipe

Being on a carnivore diet, I needed easier dinner and main course recipes to experiment and enjoy. I mainly eat beef, I wanted to use beef for a tasty and delicious recipe.

I rarely grill beef, just cook it in a large pot or more often fry ground beef in a pan. However, I wanted to practice my grilling skills and prepare a juicy and flavorful roast beef.

I thought of the spices. For some reason, balsamic vinegar came to mind. while preparinghomemade dried meatI often add vinegar to tenderize the meat and it also gives it a flavorful and delicious touch. So I thought why not? Balsamic vinegar should work on roast beef, helping to tenderize the meat and also adding a delicious flavor.

I also wanted to season the meat with butter, Italian herb mix and some garlic. I wanted to rub the meat with the spices and bake it in the oven. On the other hand, you could let the roast beef marinate for a few hours to really let the flavors soak into the meat.

However, once I started thinking about the marinade, I realized that butter solidified it, so I decided to swap out the butter for a couple tablespoons of olive oil.

Now that I had my ingredients and was ready to prepare the dish, after double-checking what oven temperature to use and how long to bake my little 2.2-pound roast.

After putting the roast in the oven, my kitchen was suddenly filled with incredibly delicious herb and garlic scents. The heat in the oven released the most delicious flavors and I really struggled to wait an hour and a half for the roast to finish cooking.

But time finally ran out and I was able to get my beautiful creation out of the oven.

After letting the roast sit for 10 minutes, I was ready to take my photos and finally enjoy the delicious, greasy food. So delicious and so satisfying!

Tips for a perfect roast beef

Roast beef is a classic dish to enjoy whenever you need a filling and nutritious meal. Here are some tips to make your roast beef perfect every time:

  • Choose the right cut of beef. The best cuts to grill are ribeye, sirloin, and sirloin. These pieces are tender and flavorful.
  • Season the meat well. A simple seasoning with salt and pepper can greatly improve the flavor of your meat. You can also add herbs and spices to create a more complex flavor profile.
  • For a professional touch, use a meat thermometer. This will ensure the meat is cooked to the desired doneness. For raw meat, the internal temperature should be 52°C (125°F), for raw meat it should be 55-57°C (130-135°F); and for medium it should be 135 to 145°F (57 to 63°C).
  • If the top of your roast gets too dark during roasting, cover the roast with aluminum foil.
  • You can also roast your meat in a Dutch oven. This makes the meat even juicier and the top side also remains tender.
  • Let the meat rest before slicing. This allows the juices to disperse throughout the meat, resulting in a more tender and flavorful roast beef.

Tips for serving your Carne Asada

  • Place the meat in a large stone bowl and garnish with herbs like fresh thyme, fresh parsley, or rosemary for an extra touch of flavor and color.
  • Serve the meat with a side of low-carb, roasted vegetables like Brussels sprouts, asparagus, or leeks. For convenience, you can fry the vegetables in the same pan as the meat.
  • For a lighter twist, serve the beef with a simple green salad dressed with a vinaigrette.
  • If you're feeling adventurous, try serving the meat with a homemade sauce or gravy. A classic horseradish sauce or red wine sauce can be the perfect accompaniment to your roast beef.

Variations to try

If you want to change up your roast beef recipe, there are many variations to try. Here are a few ideas:

  • Garnish the meat with a keto mushroom sauce or horseradish cream for a decadent touch.
  • Before grilling, wrap meat in bacon for a smoky flavor.
  • Marinate the meat in red wine to give it a tangy flavor.
  • Mix in the Dijon mustard andbrown sugar substituteand spread the mixture over the meat before grilling. The mustard adds a tangy flavor while the brown sugar substitute adds sweetness and helps caramelize the outside of the meat.
  • Before grilling, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the meat and sprinkle with chopped fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, and oregano. The lemon adds brightness and acidity to the flesh, while the herbs add flavor.
  • Mix the chilli powder, cumin and smoked paprika powder and rub the mixture over the meat before grilling. The spices add spiciness and smokiness to the meat.

With these tips and variations, you can conjure up a delicious roast beef that will impress your guests and spoil your taste buds.

Parloteo General

This week was fast-paced with various tasks ranging from writing and photography to product development and interesting meetings. I'm not a fan of meetings in general as most of them are a waste of time, require too many resources and bring very little benefit. However, this week's meetings were short, to the point, and fruitful.

She also cooked and baked a lot. I not only experimented a lot, but also baked for my colleagues with whom we met for a meeting on Friday. I made a ham and cheese pie with no crustthis recipeand keto funnel cakes, as we Finns love to eat funnel cakes on May Day; photo below.
